+Things to Do

welcome to
Charlestown

Welcome to Charlestown, one of Rhode Island’s true hidden jewels.  Nestled north of Westerly and south of South Kingstown, Charlestown is home to 7 miles of unspoiled coastline and endless stretches of pristine, silky beaches. Well-preserved barrier beaches such as Charlestown Beach and East Beach in Quonochontaug feature gentle surf and sugary white sand.  Abutting East Beach is the salt water Ninigret Pond, famous as one of New England’s best wind surfing locations. Visit Ninigret Park, with 172 acres of hiking and biking trails and swimming pond, or wander through Ninigret Conservation Area on a crisp, autumn day.  Host to the annual Seafood Festival and the Big Apple Circus, as well as the Ocean State Reggae and Rhythm and Roots Festivals, Charlestown offers a well balanced blend of interesting activity and small town solitude.
