The Dog Days of Winter
February 23rd, 2009
There is a palpable change in demeanor of real estate people around this time of year. Perhaps it is the inevitable annual slowdown of business and the uneasiness that accompanies it. Or maybe it is the dreary, relentless New England winter. Whatever it is there is a marked difference in their behavior. They begin bringing their pets around more often, and consult them on the state of business. A single agent will consume a loaf of bread and a sleeve of tuna cans in a day. Someone will watch a comedy the night before, and by the end of the day everyone in the office will have a new nickname (bearded eggplant, balding zucchini). A coffee run will need to be performed approximately every 20 minutes, and these are not simple coffees we are talking about.
So is it the dog days of winter that bring about these oddities, or is it that “Real Estaters” are a different breed of person, that their mind-boggling dedication 11 months of the year creates an uncomfortable psyche in the more relaxed weeks. Should I be frightened?
Wish me luck,
Bret
